Description and Impact
Rachaya Al-Foukhar is known for its traditional clay artifacts and its land for agriculture. People cultivate several products including wheat, mulberries, cherries, figs, apples, grapes, and olives. As in many regions in Lebanon water was not reaching the cultivated land. A solution to this problem was reached when the Municipality received a grant to dig a well, coat its walls, and conduct water testing. However, to complete the project, additional equipment was needed to connect the water from the well to the agricultural lands surrounding the village. Through a grant from SEAL, the municipality received a vertical water pump, 1,400 meters water pipes, necessary electric cables, and other accessories to connect the water from the well to the big reservoir of the village, which in turn provided the water for irrigation.
