Our main focus areas are: Agriculture Production, Water and Irrigation, Women in the Workforce, Business Skills, Environment and Humanitarian. Other select projects include, culture and tourism funded on a case-by-case basis.

Lebanese communities are struggling more today than they have in decades. Since 2019, the evolving humanitarian and economic situations in Lebanon have been simply catastrophic. More than 50% of the Lebanese population is living in poverty. The lockdown measures in response to the Sars-CoV-2 pandemic have pushed many Lebanese further into poverty and rising rates of unemployment. Then, while in the throes of the worst economic collapse in history, an explosion rocks Beirut on August 4, 2020 threatening any hope for a stable and secure Lebanon. Hundreds dead. Thousands wounded. Billions USD in property damage. Thousands of homes destroyed.

The October 2019 protests brought to light the political, financial, social and economic instability sweeping Lebanon. Estimates revealed that more than 50% of the population was living in poverty. In response, SEAL supported our previous grant farmers beneficiaries by purchasing their food products and donating them to NGOs equipped to distribute them to the needy.

Also, in response to the August 4, 2020 catastrophe, SEAL and partners LIFE, LebNet, Jamhour Alumni and US based NGO Kuwait-America Foundation, formed the Beirut Emergency Fund (BEF). This unified humanitarian relief fund was established to address the most immediate needs with a hyper-targeted focus on hospitals, medical services, rehabilitation and reconstruction, and mental health support. In addition to our BEF activities SEAL supported select COVID-19 relief programs, free essential medicine distribution to needy Lebanese patients, and also enlisted many of SEAL’s past farmers/cooperatives beneficiaries by purchasing their food products for distribution to the needy. We were able to do this economically and efficiently through grants provided to trusted Lebanese NGOs equipped to distribute these supplies to those who needed them most.
