Project Aim
The Agricultural Cooperative in Qoubaiyat, established in 1975, serves 267 farmer and producer members. It currently employs 8 full-time staff and 22 seasonal workers, impacting the northern Akkar region.
The coop is seeking support from SEAL to provide irrigation networks, connecting water sources to agricultural lands. Due to the rising number of farmers, a new pipeline is needed to support the existing artificial lake with water from nearby springs. This pipeline will help reduce the risks encountered in the irrigation water systems in Qoubaiyat and assist local stakeholders and the municipality in addressing water challenges in the area.
The SEAL grant will cover:
• Rehabilitating the concrete canal, spanning 2.1 km.
• Constructing a reservoir with a minimum volume of 300 cubic meters.
• Installing a diversion from the canal to the reservoir and connecting the reservoir to the DI pipe.
• Installing a water supply pipe to the coop's artificial lake.
• Establishing a filtration station at 1381m altitude to remove solid particles and organic residues from water, connected to a 250mm DI pipe. The filtration station requires approximately 30 square meters.
