The Agricultural Cooperative in Qoubaiyat, established in 1975, serves 267 farmers and agricultural producers and employs 8 full-time staff and 22 seasonal workers. The cooperative plays an important role in supporting agricultural development throughout the northern Akkar region.
SEAL supported the cooperative in expanding and improving its irrigation network by strengthening connections between available water sources and agricultural lands. In response to the increasing number of farmers and growing demand for irrigation water, SEAL provided support for the installation of a new pipeline to supply the cooperative’s existing artificial lake with water from nearby springs.
The completed intervention reduced risks and improved the reliability of the Qoubaiyat irrigation system, while helping local stakeholders and the municipality better address water-management challenges in the area.

The SEAL grant supported the completion of the following works:
1. Rehabilitation of the 2.1-kilometer concrete irrigation canal.
2. Installation of 30 water gates to regulate, direct, and distribute water to farmers along the canal.
3. Construction of a water reservoir with a minimum capacity of 100 cubic meters.
4. Establishment of a water collection point at an altitude of 1,381 meters, connected to the irrigation canal.
5. Installation of 1,600 meters of PN16 pipeline, using 90 mm and 110 mm diameter pipes. The pipeline was installed along sections of the canal, connecting the canal to the reservoir and the reservoir to the cooperative’s artificial lake. More than 20 accessories and fittings were installed to connect the canal, reservoir, artificial lake, and the irrigation network serving multiple farmers along the route.
6. Installation of an emergency firefighting outlet from the reservoir, enabling the local fire department to access water in the event of a fire or other emergency.
