Description and Impact
Established in 1992, the Burn Center was the first and still is the only Burn and Treatment Center in Lebanon with multidisciplinary team of experienced professionals. This 10-bed facility, with comprehensive services from injury through initial rehabilitation, has been admitting more than 100 acute burn-injured patients each year and another 1000 treated as outpatients.
The August 4th, 2020 Beirut explosion, heavily damaged the Center and halted its critical operation. SEAL, Thanks to an anonymous donor, provided Geitaoui Hospital with a grant to repair and rehabilitate the Burn Center which included replacement of damaged patient beds and monitors, furniture, interior works (wood doors, steel doors, false ceiling, paint), aluminum and electrical works, duct reparations, ventilation fans.
The rehabilitation of this Facility was a very timely response, at this time of turmoil in Lebanon, to allow it to continue its mission of serving and healing burn patients.
