Description and Impact
The civil defense center in Mtolleh is a 24/7 firefighting operation manned solely by volunteers. In the past 3 years, they have responded to 44 fires in 2021, 37 in 2022 and 13 so far in 2023. In order to quickly respond to fires before they become out of control, they need electricity 24/7. Today, electricity in Lebanon is scarce and generator fees are very costly. SEAL installed solar energy to the center which helped in significantly reducing its operating costs and to continue providing this vital firefighting service to its community.
