Description and Impact

Project Overview:
Established in 2012, the women's cooperative in Mejdel El Koura was created to provide employment opportunities and contribute to building a sustainable and vibrant local economy. The cooperative empowers women and their families through the production of a wide range of traditional goods, including juice, pickles, dried foods, herbs, orange blossom water, rose water, and arak.

The cooperative has previously received support from SEAL—first in 2017 for automated Mouneh production equipment, and again in 2022 for the installation of a solar energy system. However, the initial solar system could not meet the energy demands of all machinery, limiting operational efficiency. To overcome this challenge, the cooperative sought additional support from SEAL to upgrade its solar capacity.

Project Objectives:
The solar upgrade aimed to:

Ensure a stable and efficient power supply for machinery.
Eliminate energy-related disruptions and enable continuous operation, especially during peak production seasons.
Enhance overall production capacity and increase income opportunities for cooperative members.

Implementation Completion Summary:

The upgraded system included:

  • Installation of a high spec 8KW inverter.
  • Addition of four 5.12 KWh ProB batteries.
  • Upgraded electrical panel.
  • Full installation and integration services.

Thanks to this upgrade, the cooperative can now operate more efficiently, increase output, and better support the livelihoods of its members.
