Description and Impact
Pruning of trees is an important aspect of a tree’s health. Very often in Lebanon, residues from pruning are burnt or left behind, a big fire hazard waiting to happen. SEAL provided 2 shredders to Amioun and Kfaraaka municipalities to support their efforts in preventing fires and to encourage farmers in these villages to re-use residues from the shredded pruning as fertilizers and briquettes for heating purposes. All the farmers from the surrounding areas will be sharing the shredders and benefiting from their use.
