Description and Impact
Green Orient is committed to the environmental restoration of Lebanon's agricultural regions and has previously benefited from SEAL's support. In 2018, they received a $28,268 grant to establish a nursery and supply thyme seedlings. In 2023, they were also provided with 2.5 tons of potato seeds, which were distributed to 100 farmers.
Their latest project involved repairing and cleaning two 2-kilometer-long irrigation canals: one in Al Jahiliya and another in Jdaydet Al Shouf. After 40 years of continuous use, these canals had deteriorated and were in urgent need of repair. Thanks to SEAL’s grant, both canals have been fully restored.
SEAL covered the repair costs, including concrete materials and steel for the “Regar,” ensuring the sustainability of vital water resources for local agriculture.
