This Project is sponsored by Creating both economic opportunity for women in Gharifee and Chouf, and a market for the lower grade olive oil produced by local farmers this project helped establish a new soap factory to produce, package, and sell natural soap. There are no other soap factories in Gharifee. At capacity, the factory can produce 100kg per hour. In addition to olive oil soaps, soaps with natural additives including mint and lavender will be produced and sold in local markets.
Description and Impact
Creating both economic opportunity for women in Gharifee and Chouf, and a market for the lower grade olive oil produced by local farmers, this project helped establish a new soap factory that produced, packaged, and sold natural soap. Previously there were soap factories in Gharifee and the rich natural resources of the region could not be harnessed. At capacity, the factory was able to produce 100kg per hour. In addition to olive oil soaps, soaps with natural additives including mint and lavender were produced and sold in local markets.
