In 2013, Le Bon Lait Cooperative lost all their cows and much of their business after Storm Alexa hit Lebanon. In spite of the hardship, the cooperative rebuilt with a focus on the quality and diversity of its cheeses.
SEAL’s grant benefited 2010 cow farmers, locals who were given lower prices, and 13 cooperative members (mostly women) who improved the coop’s connection to a profitable market through a combination of door-to-door distribution channels and sales to confectionary factories and medium-sized businesses.
