SEAL provided the Sannine Cooperative for Sustainable Agriculture (SCSA) with 75 beehives, each containing around 14 frames of adult honey-producing bees; 150 empty beehive wooden boxes with their lids; 150 extra wooden layers; 200 kilos of wax; and 4,000 kilos of sugar used for the generations of bees that would develop during the coming seasons. Initially, 15 cooperative members benefited directly from this project.
To ensure project sustainability, the SCSA entered into an agreement with the Biomass Company to sell its certified organic honey produce. They developed beekeeping practices in accordance with international regulations and ensured the beekeepers compliance with the Coop’s regulations; this in turn ensured the highest quality organic honey production. This brought in solid revenue and allowed the cooperative to pay the salaries of needed laborers and engineers. Additional profit was used for future expansions.
