Zaarouriye village has an estimated 25,000 olive trees with thousands more in the surrounding villages. Each year, local farmers produce the highest quality extra virgin olive oil. However, because the farmers sold their oil in tins rather than in bottles they were limited in their marketing options and could not access the export market.
In response to this challenge, SEAL supported the acquisition of the needed stainless steel containers, as well as the filling, capping, and labeling equipment needed by the bottling and collection center which helped increase sales in local markets and ultimately for export opportunities. This project began generating new income for 15 women employees and increased the income of 75 farmers.
