The dire economic and humanitarian crises in Lebanon, further exacerbated by the COVID-19 pandemic, necessitated further action supporting needy Lebanese families with daily food supplies.
In partnership with Beit El Baraka and the Lebanese Food Bank, SEAL provided a one-month supply of essential foods to more than 30,000 Lebanese families in need throughout Lebanon. At the same time, it benefited 1,000 SEAL farming cooperative grantees across Lebanon when they bought their mouneh items for the donated food boxes.
This campaign kicked off at a Webinar hosted by SEAL on April 4, 2020, and was attended by over 200 Seal supporters and raised $1 Million that helped feed the less fortunate.
Food boxes distribution covered the eight governorates and 25 of 26 districts in Lebanon. The distribution of the purchased food made in collaboration with 140 NGOs all over Lebanon, was subjected to strict quality control and monitoring procedures.
A special thanks to the Volunteer Circle and their young volunteers who helped perform the quality control and transported the food boxes for distribution. Thanks also to the Lebanese Army for their tremendous logistical support in delivering food to the recipient NGOs in even the most remote areas of Lebanon.
SEAL is also grateful to its local partners Beit El Baraka and the Lebanese Food Bank for their commitment and hard work that reached and helped a large number of families over the course of four months (May-August). Despite the challenges of the safety requirements, intermittent closures, food shortages, price fluctuations, and security related matters necessitated by the COVID-19 pandemic.
