Project Aim
Project Summary:
In mid-2025, Azour Municipality established a 3,000 m² carob plot, planting 180 trees supported by an irrigation system donated by Ordre de Malte (Kfar Falous). Building on this success, the municipality plans to expand the plantation by preparing an additional 5,000 m² and planting 150 more carob trees. The expansion will adopt climate-resilient agroforestry practices on municipally owned land.
Objectives:
The project aims to increase municipal income, create 2–3 part-time jobs, and reach annual production of 2–3 tons of carob by year 7, rising to 7–13 tons by year 10.
Implementation Plan:
SEAL’s support will cover the procurement and installation of irrigation equipment and related infrastructure required for the plantation expansion. This includes land preparation and earthworks, installation of water storage tanks, irrigation networks, a prefabricated utility room, and a drip irrigation system with pressure regulation to ensure efficient water use and long-term productivity.
