Project Aim
The Hasroun Church Endowment is requesting SEAL’s support to establish a Mouneh production facility that will empower women, create youth employment opportunities, and reduce agricultural waste. The project involves equipping and rehabilitating a currently unused parish-owned building to produce traditional Lebanese food products such as tomato paste, jams, pickles, juices, and dried fruits. This initiative aims to enhance product quality, unify branding, and expand market reach, thereby strengthening rural livelihoods and supporting the local agricultural economy.
The project aims to generate income for women and youth in Hasroun, reduce food waste by processing surplus crops, enhance product quality through modern equipment, establish a unified brand for Mouneh products, and support sustainable rural development by engaging local farmers.
The project will be implemented by the Hasroun Endowment Committee, led by Father Antonios Gebara, within the unused Hasroun Hospital building (property #831), owned by the parish. The facility will be rehabilitated to meet hygienic and production standards and equipped with modern food processing machinery. Women will be employed on a seasonal basis for production, while youth will be involved during the summer months. Local farmers will supply the raw agricultural materials. SEAL’s support will cover equipment procurement, building rehabilitation, and branding development.
