Description and Impact
This SEAL sponsored project was coordinated through various cooperatives and municipalities that have previously collaborated with SEAL. SEAL generously provided 40 tons of Fabula potato seeds, which were distributed to a total of 1,600 farmers across Lebanon. Each beneficiary received a 25kg bag of seeds. The potatoes are being planted on existing farmland cultivated with trees, thereby maximizing the potential use of the land. All the covered areas are well-irrigated through reservoirs and springs.
Each farmer is expected to produce approximately 300 to 400 kgs of potatoes with the distributed bag of seeds. This harvest will enable them to sustain their entire families for months. Additionally, small potatoes are typically saved and used as seeds for the next season's crop, ensuring the sustainability of cultivation for several more years.
