Project Aim
Project Summary:
Following the successful completion of Phase I, which distributed 3,330 tool kits to registered farmers through Ministry of Agriculture training centers, and in response to strong demand and positive feedback from both farmers and Ministry field staff, the Minister of Agriculture, Mr. Nizar Hani, approached SEAL to support Phase II of the project. This final grant will enable the distribution of an additional 3,600 tool kits to farmers across Lebanon, following the same criteria established with the Ministry during Phase I. The initiative will further strengthen national efforts to support small- and medium-scale farmers and enhance their operational capacity.
Objectives:
• Provide an additional 3,600 registered farmers with battery-powered pruning and cutting tools to improve efficiency and productivity.
• Reduce physical labor and health risks associated with manual pruning and sawing.
• Strengthen collaboration between SEAL and the Ministry of Agriculture in delivering practical, field-based support to farmers.
• Encourage farmer engagement with Ministry services and formal agricultural registration.
Implementation Plan:
The SEAL team will distribute the equipment on-site at each training center and through bulk purchasing and a direct supplier relationship, SEAL will acquire the equipment kit at a significantly reduced cost as with the previous grant.
NB:
*Previous grant in 2025: $129,870 to purchase and distribute 3,333 hand pruners and saws to farmers.
