With the high increase of Lebanon’s COVID cases, SEAL targeted COVID-19 related support through 3 organizations:
Lebanon Needs (LN) COVID-19 Emergency Campaign: With a grant of $60,000, SEAL supported LN efforts that distributed critical personal protective equipment (PPE) to 36 institutions (mainly hospitals) including 67,000 protective gowns and 9000 washable and disposable fabric masks that were locally sourced and manufactured by MD Medical Industries in Lebanon. LAU Medical Center - Rizk Hospital PCR Testing National Campaign: SEAL awarded $30,000 to the LAU Medical Center-Rizk Hospital that supported their medical team in their fight against the spread of COVID-19. The SEAL grant provided free PCR testing to people who did not benefit from social security coverage or any health insurance and lacked the means to pay for the testing. The SEAL grant contributed 1,456 free PCR tests that aided in this effort.
The LAU Mobile Clinic, created in March 2020 amidst the COVID-19 outbreak, launched its National PCR testing campaign that offered medical services that covered all Lebanese regions. For more information about the LAU testing program, please visit: www.laumcrh.com/covid-19.
René Moawad Foundation “Together” Initiative: SEAL awarded $30,000 in support of the Covid-19 Containment Testing Program that was part of the "Together" initiative mission launched by the René Moawad Foundation on March 16, 2020.
This SEAL grant helped to provide 2,000 free PCR tests to many Lebanese who had virus symptoms in communities of multiple Northern Lebanon regions. This effort also targeted patients requiring COVID-19 testing before an urgent surgery and did not have health insurance or the means to pay for the test.
