This project secures irrigation water for Mazraat El Sayed by constructing a 7,000 m³ reservoir, enabling farmers to irrigate their lands during the dry season and strengthening agriculture in the Bekaa region.

Mazraat El Sayed, a village in the Baalbek district of the Bekaa region, faces recurring water shortages during the summer months, creating serious challenges for local farmers and the wider community. To address this issue, the Organization for Social and Agricultural Development (OSAD) requested the construction of a reservoir that would collect and store water for use during the dry season.

With a capacity of 7,000 cubic meters, the reservoir is capable of irrigating approximately 158,000 square meters of agricultural land, directly benefiting farmers and residents by providing a reliable water source. This infrastructure will boost crop production, reduce water stress, and improve livelihoods in the village.

The construction, carried out on public property, included excavation, land clearing, concrete work, installation of geotextile and geomembrane liners, pipework, and fencing. The grant covered all these costs, ensuring the reservoir was built to meet the community’s needs and designed for long-term sustainability.

This project is expected to bring lasting positive change to Mazraat El Sayed by enabling consistent agricultural activity, supporting local farmers, and promoting the sustainable use of water resources in the Bekaa region.
