Description and Impact
One year ago, the coop launched a successful mini beekeeping project that engaged 10 participants, each managing an average of 20 hives. Encouraged by this success and the growing interest in beekeeping, they plan to expand the program. The region is rich in aromatic herbs, providing ideal conditions for high-quality honey production.
The program produced about 300 kilograms of honey annually, but with the full implementation of their expansion plan, they anticipate increasing production to at least 2,000 kilograms annually.
To achieve this goal, SEAL supported the coop by providing essential beekeeping equipment and tools, including 100 beehives, frames, 1 extractor, honeycomb removal tools, tanks, uniforms, accessories, filters, and 400 wooden boxes. The wooden boxes have been sourced locally from the Mhaydsse Coop, a previous SEAL grant recipient.
