This grant supported the establishment of a beehive factory in Mhaydsse. While there are many qualified beekeepers in the village, wooden beehives are largely unavailable. This grant established a factory that produced the needed high-quality beehives at competitive prices. Based on the need study conducted by the Agricultural Cooperative of Mhaydsse there were approximately 150 beekeepers in the area who own a total of ≈8000 beehives. However, there still was a need for additional 1,500 beehives annually during the spring and autumn seasons.
The cooperative also conducted a study on production cost and depending on quantities manufactured, they can come in below market price. Consequently, all future beehive purchases for SEAL beekeeping projects will be done through the Beehives Factory in Mhaydsse.
