Description and Impact
Diman, a vast agricultural region with significant untapped potential, has faced challenges in fully utilizing its resources due to water scarcity. Apples dominate local fruit cultivation in this area. In an effort to address the water shortage, the mayor of Diman sought assistance from SEAL to create an artificial lake. The purpose of this lake is to capture and store water for irrigation, sourced from rainfall and snowmelt.
Situated on Diman Maronite Patriarchate land, generously provided free of charge, the artificial lake has been successfully completed and filled. This initiative ensures a reliable water supply for cultivating and irrigating the land, ultimately overcoming the impediment of water scarcity. The project is expected to expand arable land by 100,000m² and is strategically located in the cultivation area dedicated to producing export-quality apples.
