Established in 2023, Halardelna is a newly founded NGO dedicated to supporting small-scale farmers in the Mount Lebanon - South districts. In response to the economic challenges stemming from high inflation and currency depreciation, the organization aims to mitigate financial hardships while promoting sustainable agricultural practices.
Halardelna's project seeks to provide farmers access to essential farming equipment to reduce production costs, encourage sustainable farming methods, including minimizing soil erosion, conserving water, and reducing chemical use and increase agricultural output to strengthen local food security. In addition, with 25% of affiliated farmers already abandoning their lands due to financial struggles, the project aims to reverse this trend.
Thanks to a SEAL grant, Halardelna received 18 ploughing tractors with trimmers, 9 mini tillers and 9 manual spraying pumps with hoses and spraying guns. This equipment will support the cultivation of 1 million square meters of farmland annually, focusing on key crops such as vegetables, fruits, and olive trees.Through this initiative, Halardelna is committed to fostering resilience and sustainability in the agricultural sector, ensuring that small farmers can thrive despite economic challenges.
