Background
The project aims to consolidate the development of the women cooperative of Fnaiedek that recently restarted as well as to contribute to market the traditional local food products made by the women of the Qememine village in a context of difficult access to markets.
SEAL’s funding allowed thirty women to produce “qamareddine of khokh”, conduct quality control, package the goods, and then sell them in supermarkets throughout Beirut. The project also involved lab testing, help from a marketing expert, design of both the logo and the packaging, patenting of the product, and shipping of the finished goods to the coast.
MADA is a non sectarian, non political NGO established in Lebanon in 2000. MADA works with different groups in various developmental and environmental projects in Lebanon to facilitate dynamics of change based on endogenous and inclusive efforts as well as policies and regulations appropriate to local realities. MADA counts 25 members and develops various projects in the following fields: education, environment, economic development, water and agriculture.
