Background

SEAL sponsored a six-week Information Technology training program that the Saradar Foundation's E-Caravan (a mobile IT school, equipped with 10 PCs, one laser printer and an LCD projector) conducted in Bar Elias, in the Bekaa Valley. This occurred within the framework of a pilot project by the 'Lebanese Physical Handicapped Union' to create a job center in the area dedicated to disabled persons.

The caravan was stationed in Bar Elias for six weeks and provided training for approximately 40 students ( ages 12 to 50 years old) with a special training curriculum developed and tailored to meet their specific needs.

The curriculum included Microsoft Windows XP, Word XP, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook Express & Internet, as well as resume writing and job interview preparation. Upon completion of the course, trainees obtained a certificate delivered by Formatech, a Microsoft-certified technical education centre.

Moreover, the Saradar Foundation was able to secure jobs for some of the enrolled participants, thanks to their newly acquired skills.
