Cost:   $41,000
Geographic Scope:   Baalbeck, Bekaa Valley
Year:   2008

Background

SEAL funded the excavation of a water well in the village of Aynata, in an area that was not cultivated due to the lack of irrigation. Water was found at a depth of 70 meters, and a pump and pipes were installed. Many new fields will be planted, mainly with apple trees, in November of 2008. This will result in a substantial increase in the area’s cultivated acreage, and will generate a steady income stream for many families.
